On Tuesday, my tennis session was rained out. We literally started for 10 minutes before the rain came, then started again for maybe 10 more minutes when the rain kind of stopped...and then the rain returned with twice its initial strength. We decided to call it a day, and my tennis partner, whom I was meeting for the first time, kindly sent me home. Yes, it was on the way, but he really didn't have to. He was one of those genuinely nice people and it made me feel very bad about bitching to Mark, my new Australian colleague, about his crappy English when he first responded to my request for a tennis partner on a Singapore tennis Facebook group.
The second incident happened just tonight. I got into the taxi of the most polite, pleasant and service-oriented taxi driver of all-time. He said 'thank you' to every answer I gave to his questions, he didn't drive too fast, and he was just so polite. I told him, 'You're very polite!' He said, 'Thanks. It's the way it should be!'
That was a good end to an otherwise mostly crappy day. However, I will not pollute this entry with negativity, and so I shall go to bed.
